As Canada's largest province, Quebec has just rolled out a new rule as part of its Canadian Gambling Laws , which will prevent individuals with convictions for money laundering and forgery from accessing land-based casinos.

Fostering a secure and responsible gaming environment is a top priority.

With the sole exception of the Indigenous community, all legislative measures in Quebec fall under Loto-Quebec's authority. This new law is aligned with the provisions of the Controlled and Substance Act and specifically targets forgery and money laundering offenses.

Individuals accused or convicted of these crimes in the past five years will be prohibited from entering all land-based casinos in the region. The law is anticipated to take effect towards the end of September.

Earlier this week, Claudia Loupret, spokesperson for Quebec's Finance Ministry, made this announcement during a press briefing. She detailed how the provincial government is committed to promoting responsible gambling in Canada and enhancing an already robust framework for safety and trust in the gambling sector. Loupret emphasized Quebec's role as a model for maintaining financial integrity in its casinos.
